I'm not at all above disrobing a mannequin who's wearing something I NEED; especially when that something is sold out otherwise. This green vest from Old Navy was one said article of clothing that the mannequin and I fought over. (Other instances have resulted in a mannequin being knocked over and another lost its arm because she wouldn't let go of a jacket).
This time, no one was hurt, and I didn't get caught (sometimes, stores won't take the item off the mannequin due to display...yada, yada, yada). I artfully ducked around the sales person, hid behind the sweater display and pulled at the vest inch by inch until it came off!
Have you guys ever bullied a mannequin?
A couple of you ladies asked me how I mimicked the Zara leather arm jacket in this post. I did so by just combining an old leather bolaro beneath this Old Navy vest, et voila (see it worn with my Alexander Wang vest here)! I chose not to sew it because both pieces are separately great for layering. Sooooo glad I didn't donate it to the Salvation Army!!
A HUGE thank you to Agam from Trimmings and Lace for awarding BBBlog the Tell Me About Yourself Award! Check out her blog ladies and as always show some blogger love!

Your style is Phenomenal... So inspiring and I will NOT hesitate to strip a mannequin NAKED! lol
ReplyDeletelove love love the skirt xoxo
ReplyDeletestunning outfit! you have the most amazing style and eye!!! this may be the best way i've ever seen a surplus vest styled and you have completely inspired me to wear mine with something sparkly and animal print like this. and great necklace!
ReplyDeletehttp://spinning-threads.blogspot.com
I too have fought a mannequin :) It breaks my heart when they won't sell you what is displayed on them. They've done that to me at Forever 21 a few times. What's the point of showing you how cute a dress is if they won't let you BUY it? Sheesh...
ReplyDeleteSo about your outfit...you look fabulous! That vest is worth beating up that stupid mannequin. The ones at Old Navy are sooo creepy looking.
I also like your skirt & your necklace!

awesome, awesome, awesome DIY leather arm jacket. So smart! Maybe I can find a good thrifted leather bolero. I already have the vest!!
ReplyDelete...and yes, I HATE when the store associates refuse to disrobe the mannequin!Hello, aren't you supposed to be SELLING clothes? ugh! Guess you gotta do what you gotta do in those situations. LOL!
Great look, hon!Love the mix of prints!
ReplyDeleteNice look, in love with your sequin skirt!Come back soon to visit my blog, I'll be waiting for you!!

Wow, I LOVE your accessories! The ring, the necklace, the cat brooch... amazing choices! :) And I admire how you combined leather, utility green and sequins in one single outfit!
ReplyDeletewow! love this lepard accent!! you look gorgeous:)
ReplyDeleteHah! I always just bully the sales people to do it. Happens a lot, actually, as I am (literally) 1" away from being legally classified as a little person and so often the only size in the store that will fit me is on the mannequinn. If they give me any guff, a well arched brow usually does the trick!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is phenomenal. i am amazed, yet again, by your incredible knack for mixing texture and pattern to create a rich and unexpectedly beautiful ensemble.
You look adorable! Awesome outfit dear!

guilty as sin on the disrobing of mannequins charge! but hey... a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do ; ) fantastic look, you're quite skilled at layering!
ReplyDeleteYou have that jcrew skirt?????? I wanted it so badly but remembered I have many other sequins skirts so I passed! It is gorgeous and oh yes I have fought a mannequin! Probably too many times :) So you are not Joani from London....hehe it's ok! Amy from the East Coast works too!
ReplyDeletelove the clutch; i just posted mine on my page :-) love the pics...as i have said before; you always have the best "photo shoots".
ReplyDelete~nic
Cool! The pattern of an animal is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWow, this combination is mind blowing. So many prints and textures and how good it all works.
ReplyDeleteI too am never shy of undressing a mannequin if needed. Most stores though have a policy against that. Glad you were able to get the vest. It was worth it.

so cute look...amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteMe oh mY! Love this! I have worked for many years in retail as a Visual Merchandiser and can I just say, if I saw someone disrobing one of my mannequins you would definitely feel my wrath! But, on the other hand a good Merchandiser makes sure not to display items on mannequins that are not in stock! So shame on them and score one for you!
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic!
