'That Looks on Tempests and Is Never Shaken'

This past weekend, I'm thankful that my area was spared the force of Irene. There were only a few leaves and twigs blown about. Sunday morning, the BF and I got up to survey the damage and I must say the wind was still quite strong. So we brought the camera along to shoot some pics.

How did you guys fare during the storm?

'All the World's a Stage'

I can not tell you how absolutely HOT it was when I shot these pics.  I swore early menopause was upon me.  Had to keep the car running with AC, snap, jump in the car, look at photos, run back out and repeat.  Nosy neighbor stopped me to ask me what I was doing, and I in turn had to explain to her what a fashion blog was.  I was tempted to reply that I'm extremely vain and just like to take pics of myself for the hell of it.  I dunno, I'm just not that interested in what other people are doing.

First wore this dress here! I love it so!!

What I'm Wearing:

Hung out with Pamela of Cinderella's Closet last Thurdsay evening at Lina Frey for a chance to enter a shopping competition. Here's hoping we win Pamela!!

Street Style

Loved her studded boots (Sam Edelman, sold here) and the simple slip dress! The shades were just as hot as the weather and what can I say about her lippy! Also LOVED the feather dangly's on her friend! Fabulous girls!

'When [Summers] Die, There Are No Comets Seen'

When I took these pics, it was yet another hot, steamy day in NYC!  I'm already lamenting the end of the summer season as the weather has taken a turn for the cooler side. REALLY!!!??? It's August, damn you! What happened to the dog days of summer? The lazy, hazy, humid afternoons?  WHYYYY isn't the north east a continual warm climate???

Is anyone else dreading the return of winter as I am?

Much LOVE to Fashion to Food for telling me that Free People put my pic up on their blog! So exciting :)

Also, a big thank you to Rose (how apropos, don't ya think?) of Well Curated for letting me know the name of the flowers in my previous post (click here).  Here is her explanation:

Cockscomb is their common name. They are a member of the amaranth family. Pretty, aren't they? They always remind me of coral, or brains, or something a Victorian scientist would keep under glass. They dry very well, and keep their color for several years.

They really did remind me of brains actually. Pretty fluffy brains, but brains non-the-less!

And finally, for those of you who complimented me on my beautiful house in this post and this post, I must confess that those pictures were at a large estate in Sleepy Hollow, NY that I have the pleasure of staying at every year for my job. So nope, not my place. Bits of my humble abode can be seen here and here.  Will def. take some apartment shots one of these days!

'That Which We Call A Rose'

This is by far one of my favorite dresses from Anthropologie.  Last year I went on an absolute dress buying binge since I deemed my closet to be shockingly lacking in dresses.  Wasn't sure about this one at first when I saw it on-line. Then I 'happened' to be in the store, saw it on the rack and I knew we were not to be parted!

(photos by N. Willock)

Found this beautiful bed of flowers on the side of the road. Don't know what they are and doesn't really matter. They could be weeds for all I know and they'd still look as pretty!

Any of you ladies know the names of the blooms that surround me?
