When I first saw this dress on display in '08 at Lord and Taylor (in a mall in NJ), I absolutely loved it. BUT...it was a few hundred dollars. So, I shrugged my shoulders, strengthened my reserve, bade it farewell and walked away. Months later, when searching for a dress for my friend's wedding, I noticed that the NY store had it marked down to next to nothing! Alas, it was in black and not in my size. So right there in the store, I 411ed the number to the NJ store where I initially saw this one and it was still there, last one!
When happily purchasing the dress, I noticed, hanging behind the register, a huge runway poster with a model wearing this lace slip underneath it. Of course I had to have it, and of course, the NJ Lord and Taylor didn't have it. So, after calling the NY store and being told that it wasn't there, I traipsed to all the BCBG stores in NY but with no luck. Luckily, I listened to my inner shopper and decided to try the NY Lord and Taylor anyway. Just when I was giving up hope (searching the racks, I spotted it) and it too was marked down from over a hundred dollars! Whew, yes, I was exhausted.....
Not sure when I'll be able to bring this beauty out again (since I keep buying new dresses for new occasions), but I may use the slip for some layering in the spring and summer.
How much trouble have you guys gone through to get something you absolutely had to have?
